Attic Insulation
Your attic is where most of your heat escapes. Adding insulation up there is one of the fastest ways to lower your heating and cooling bills and to end the cold spots on the ceiling below.

What it is
Top up or full replacement to stop the biggest source of heat loss in your home.
Materials
Cellulose or blown fibreglass depending on the assembly, spray foam for air-seal points, and rigid baffles at each soffit.
Typical timeline
Most projects finish in one to two days on site.
Why homeowners and builders pick this option
- Immediate drop in your heating bill through a Southwestern Ontario winter
- Cooler upstairs bedrooms in the summer
- Ice dam prevention on eaves
- Better indoor humidity control year round

When it makes sense
- You can see the tops of your ceiling joists from the attic hatch
- Rooms upstairs are cold in winter and hot in summer
- You are replacing a roof and want to bring the attic up to code
- You are chasing rebates through Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus or similar programs
Our process
- 01
Inspection
We check ventilation, existing insulation depth, and any signs of moisture or pests.
- 02
Air seal
Before we insulate we seal top plates, wire penetrations, plumbing chases, and pot lights so warm air stops leaving the house.
- 03
Baffles and dams
We install baffles at every soffit and dam around the hatch and light fixtures.
- 04
Blow in to depth
We blow cellulose or fibreglass to the depth your project needs, usually R60 for new work in this region.
Materials we install: Cellulose or blown fibreglass depending on the assembly, spray foam for air-seal points, and rigid baffles at each soffit.
Common questions
What R value should my attic be?+
Current Ontario best practice for existing homes is R60 in the attic. Most homes we visit sit closer to R20 or R30.
Do I need to remove the old insulation?+
Not usually. If the old material is dry and clean we top up over it. If there is moisture, pests, or contamination we remove first and start fresh.
Are there rebates available?+
Yes. Programs change year to year, but insulation upgrades often qualify for provincial and federal rebates.
